2.Planning my timeline for the Film Promotion Package

My Advanced Portfolio Timeline Plan (Film Promotion Package)

Week 1–2: Research Phase

  • I will research existing film trailers, posters, and magazine covers, focusing on my chosen genre.
  • I will take notes on conventions (typography, layout, colour schemes, taglines, editing styles).
  • I will also research audience demographics and psychographics to define my target audience.
  • By the end of Week 2, I will write up a research summary showing what I’ve learned.

Week 3–4: Concept Development

  • I will brainstorm and decide on my film idea (genre, storyline, characters, USP).
  • I will write a short synopsis and tagline.
  • I will start drafting how my promotional materials will look and connect with each other.
  • I will create a mood board with inspiration (colours, fonts, images, style).

Week 5–6: Planning

  • I will storyboard my trailer with shot ideas.
  • I will sketch rough poster layouts and a draft magazine cover design.
  • I will plan practical elements: filming locations, props, costumes, cast, schedule.
  • By the end of Week 6, I will have a full production plan ready.

Week 7–9: Production

  • I will film all the footage I need for my trailer, making sure I shoot extra clips for flexibility.
  • I will do photoshoots for my poster and magazine cover (using my cast in costume).
  • I will log my progress and reflect on any changes I make to my plan.

Week 10–12: Post-Production

  • I will edit my trailer, focusing on pace, sound, and transitions.
  • I will design my poster using Photoshop (or similar) and make sure it looks professional.
  • I will design my magazine cover, ensuring it follows conventions but also promotes my film.
  • I will check that all three products link together through consistent branding.

Week 13–14: Refinement

  • I will ask for audience feedback on my draft trailer, poster, and magazine cover.
  • I will use this feedback to make improvements (e.g. font choices, colour balance, pacing).
  • I will make final edits and polish my products.

Week 15–16: Evaluation

  • I will complete my evaluation questions, reflecting on:
    1. How my products use, develop, or challenge real media conventions.
    2. How they work together as a promotional package.
    3. How effective they are in reaching my audience.
    4. How technology helped me in the process.
