1.Deciding which blog idea I will move forward with.
- I am on the edge of which of the blog ideas I should move forward with. The decision is in between the Film package and the short film package which I will be analysing and researching thoroughly to see which one is the right decision for me.I will be looking at all the advantages and disadvantages of them and comparing them in this blog post to make my final decision and to move forward with the blogger project.

Short Film Package
Advantages
- Lets you explore storytelling in more depth (narrative, character, emotion).
- Great for showing off cinematography, editing, sound design, and mise-en-scène.
- Stronger opportunity to be creative with original ideas rather than just advertising.
- More personal and unique, since your short film will stand out compared to standard trailers.
Disadvantages
- Much more time-consuming (filming, editing, reshoots).
- Harder to make it look professional (short films often require strong acting)
Option 2: Film Promotion Package
Advantages
- Easier to make look professional — trailers allow you to use montages, editing pace, voiceovers, and music.
- Less pressure on acting and long scenes
- Teaches skills relevant to marketing and promotion — valuable for media/advertising pathways.
- Magazine cover and poster design give you extra chances to show graphic design skills.
Disadvantages
- Less depth in storytelling compared to a full short film.
- Trailers can feel a bit boring if not made creatively.
- You’ll need strong editing skills to match professional trailer conventions.
- Could be harder to stand out since many students pick trailers.
- Film Promotion Package (Trailer + Ancillary Products)
- More students go for this because it’s easier to polish and aligns well with marking criteria
- Short Film Package
- Students who do this can score very highly, but only if the production values are strong and the story works within 5 minutes.
- It’s riskier: if the narrative drags, acting is weak, or editing isn’t tight, examiners notice.
- For reliability and marks → Trailer option. It’s safer and usually easier to hit the assessment objectives.
- For creativity and passion → Short film option. If you’re confident in filming, directing, and storytelling, it could help you stand out.

This decision is not driven by complete certainty, but rather by a willingness to test its potential and see what tangible outcomes it may deliver. I believe it offers a reasonable opportunity to gain exposure and insight, even if I still have some reservations. At the very least, it will allow me to gather practical experience and better understand whether this kind of investment aligns with my goals.
Ultimately, I view this as a constructive step forward—one that balances skepticism with openness—and I am prepared to evaluate its effectiveness based on the results it produces.
